Defenition of  hortatory exposition text

Hortatory exposition text merupakan jenis teks yang digunakan untuk meyakinkan atau mengajak pembaca atau pendengar agar melakukan sesuatu atau mengambil tindakan tertentu. Teks ini bertujuan untuk mempengaruhi pemikiran dan sikap orang lain melalui argumen yang kuat dan logis.

Fungsi teks ini adalah untuk meyakinkan orang lain tentang pendapat atau tindakan tertentu. Dengan menggunakan fakta, data, dan informasi yang relevan, hortatory exposition juga memberikan informasi yang mendukung argumen yang disampaikan.

Adapun ciri-ciri kebahasaan dari teks hortatory exposition, yaitu:

1. Menggunakan sudut pandang orang pertama, yaitu penulis.
2. Menggunakan abstract nouns, contoh improvement, courage, hope, policy, dll.
3. Menggunakan action verbs, misalnya drive, run, sing, dll
4. Menggunakan thinking verbs, contoh evaluate, consider, analyze, dll.
5. Menggunakan modal adverbs, contoh surely, certainly, dll.
6.  Menggunakan temporal connectives, kamu bisa menggunakan: firstly, secondly, thirdly, dan seterusnya. 
7. Teks ini berisi fakta atau membahas hal yang terjadi di masa kini sehingga kita menggunakan Simple Present  Tense.
8. Menggunakan passive voices.

Struktur teks dari hortatory exposition text adalah Introduction/Thesis, Arguments, dan Recommendation.

Introduction/Thesis

Introduction berisi gambaran umum kepada pembaca tentang masalah yang sedang dibahas dan menyajikan pendapat penulis tentang masalah tersebut. Bagian ini harus memberikan beberapa informasi latar belakang tentang topik dan menyatakan mengapa topik tersebut perlu dibahas.

Arguments

Bagian kedua dari teks ini berisi argumen-argumen atau penjelasan rinci terkait topik yang dibahas. Hampir sama dengan teks analytical exposition, minimal 2 argumen yang ditampilkan dalam sebuah teks untuk memperkuat opini atau pendapat dari penulis. Dalam bagian ini penulis bisa memasukkan rekomendasi, pendapat orang lain, atau sumber terpercaya untuk mendukung opini yang telah ditulis di bagian awal. Semakin banyak argumen yang diberikan penulis untuk mendukung pendapat penulis semakin bagus. Karena hal tersebut akan lebih meyakinkan pembaca. 

Recommendation

Jika dalam analytical exposition memiliki kesimpulan, berbeda halnya dengan hortatory exposition. Bagian akhir dari tulisan ini berisi rekomendasi untuk para pembacanya.

Rekomendasi bisa berisi saran apa yang sebaiknya dilakukan atau tidak dilakukan berdasarkan dari argumen atau opini yang sudah diberikan oleh penulis.

Pada recommendation bisa berisi himbauan dan pentingnya untuk mempertimbangkan argumen-argumen yang sudah disebutkan sebelumnya. Harapannya, pembaca bisa terpengaruh dan melakukan tindakan atau mengubah sikap mereka sesuai dengan pernyataan pendapat yang telah disampaikan beserta rekomendasi solusi yang ditawarkan.
